Every moment can create beautiful memories.

Love is the topic for the month.
Please email your thoughts on my theories. I will post them on this website. I will be posting more of my weekly journal. Stay tuned.

Love is a complicated subject, but very intriguing when conversation arises around it. I talk about love all the time in my daily interactions with my own family, the families I consul and people that I am acquainted with. There are many subtopics I divide love into; self love, love for the community, and love for children.

Love for oneself is the hardest love to maintain for anyone. Many people tend to assume that they are the only ones that struggle with this concept. In my humble opinion, loving oneself has the components of forgiving yourself for undesirable choices in the past, respecting yourself to the point that others can see it, and making healthy decisions that will bring blessings along with a brighter future.

I hear many adults and teen confuse love with someone loving them through physical acts. This is a mistake! A huge problem is replacing the definition of love with sex. Sex doesn’t mean love! Sex is sex. Sex can range from a beautiful bond between two people to the lowest form of control. Many of our sisters and brothers in the community disrespect themselves by the way they dress, carry themselves, talk, and the way they treat others. Self- love tends to be a lonely journey in time to figure out how self- love actually feels. I think self-love feels wonderful and it took me a while to figure that out. It’s nothing someone else can give you; only you can give yourself this wonderful gift. In high school, I was teased for the way I looked but my resiliency reminded me that God made no mistakes on me. All that torture taught was to stay humble and not to allow stereotypes, racism, and hatred to define me. But it’s ironic how hatred can make humans appreciate love. How can we as human beings truly appreciate love if we never experienced the wrath of hate.
